Review:
The long awaited first new material released by Laibach since Jesus Christ Superstars. Laibach launch into an upbeat 'dance' track with a pounding military feel. The CD cover reflects this with the image of a military style fez complete with cross/cog logo and Nazi style skull and crossbones. The CD contain 5 versions of the track, with only tracks 1 and 2 sounding similar. I prefer track 2 on this CD, and always have it on my playlist for online first person shooters.
Unusually, Laibach are singing about themselves, and their influences. Even though the list is clear and direct about who and what Laibach 'dance' with, you may be unsure about how they 'dance'.

1. Tanz Mit Laibach - Album Version
This version is taken from the WAT album. It has an aggressive, military, stomping, dance beat. The vocals are in German, with the chorus much like Rammstein's 'Links 2-3-4', and much in common with DAF's 'Der Mussolini'. Laibach go through a list of ideas/people/politics that they 'dance' with. They 'dance', for instance, with Ado Hinkel and Benzino Napaloni; parodying Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini in Charles Chaplin's, 'The Great Dictator'. They also 'dance' with Schikelgrueber which is probably again a reference to Hitler since Hitler's father's surname was Schikelgrueber but was changed to Hitler/Heidler. Laibach 'dance' with many political philosophies such as democracy, facism, and red anarchy. There is the usual Laibach male and female choral in the background. The overall sound is a blend of mainly electronica with some dramatic classical flourishes. And yes, you could dance to this tune.

2. Tanz Mit Laibach - Umek "Upbeat" Remix
The beat is more punchy and faster than the album version. Milan Fras's vocals have an added effect in the background; much like an overly compressed mp3 swirliness. The graininess of some background synths have been increased. No major changes to structure or sound generally. Slightly softer ending, but overall quite close to the album version.

3. Tanz Mit Laibach - Johannes Heil "Crucified" Remix
The beat is very engine/machine like. New beats have been added, and there is a monotonous pounding feel to the track. Milan Fras's vocals come in without any accompaniment apart from the beat. Synths soon emerge, and later choral. The choral with a subtle following synth  has a smoother/wider effect than the album version. This track reminds me of 'Trans-National' from the 'Opus Dei' album. The overall sound is industrial, but without hard, clanking, metallic sounds.

4. Tanz Mit Laibach - Zeta Reticula "Wir Tanzen Ado Hinkel" Remix
A resampled 'Krafwerk' robot version of Milan Fras's vocals is used as part of the beat. With elastic synths and punchy beats the main vocals appear. There is no choral, and almost no tune. The track breaks down in the middle to sound effects and minimal robot voice. The vocals reappear and the track pounds on until an electronic cymbals ending. This is the most minimal/broken down version of the track.

5. Tanz Mit Laibach - Temponauta "Desert Storm" Remix
Old vinyl record scratchiness is added. There is a middle eastern female wail, and slight sound of 'marbles'. The sound of  many marching feet go past. The beat grows and Zils (finger cymbals) are added. The track has a slower pace with rich vocals, both Milan Fras and  constant background choral, with a building synth sound. There is the atmosphere and tempo of a stately middle eastern procession. Deep pounding drums are added sparingly which increases the ambiance of the track. Towards the end there are no main vocals, except Milan Fras at the very end, as the album version
