The lyrics to Zager and Evans 60s classic have been greatly
changed by Laibach. Laibach's version seems to chart the end of
the world (or just the Balkans?) by war by the year 1999 AD. The
song is disturbing since Laibach seem to have prophesied the
Balkan conflict, including the exodus of people from Kosovo and
the bombing of Serbia (see NATO album review on audio pages for
more details). Instead of Ivan Milan's gravel tones we are treated to the rich
deep voice of
Vasja Ulrih.
